MSU’s Adams Earns Player of the Week honors

BOZEMAN — Montana State senior standout Latisha Adams has been named co-Big Sky Conference Player of the Week and the College Sports Madness Big Sky Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her efforts in MSU’s two road victories last week over Southern Utah and Montana.

Adams, a 5-foot-9 guard from Albuquerque, New Mex., led Montana State in scoring as the Bobcats took over sole possession atop the Big Sky Conference standings. For the week, the 5-foot-9 guard averaged 14.5 points and 2.5 rebounds, while shooting 47 percent from the field and 100 percent (10-10) from the line. In addition, she added four assists, four steals and a blocked shot.

Against Southern Utah, Adams posted 16 points, but more importantly, took over the game in the second half, notching 12 points, connecting on 8-of-8 from the free throw line, including four straight makes in the final minute to secure the win.

For the third time in the last four games at Dahlberg Arena, Adams guided Montana State to a win over Montana. On Saturday, Adams recorded a team-high 13 points, converting five-of-11 from the field, including one three-pointer, which gave the Bobcats a 13-point lead with 10:11 remaining in the game. Her bucket at the 4:44 mark helped stave off a Lady Griz rally and her two charity tosses with 1:03 left secured the win.

For the third straight week, Montana State knocked off a team that was in first place- the second time on the road. The Bobcats are 7-1 on the road this season thanks in part to Adams, who has averaged 12.0 points, while shooting 50 percent from the field over the past ten games.

Adams shares the Big Sky award with Eastern Washington freshman Hayley Hodgins.
