POMONA, Calif. — Brody Miller continues to collect post season accolades as he has been named to the 2014 Daktronics Division II First Team All-West Region Baseball Team and the 2014 NCAA Division II National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-West Region First Team.
Miller, who is the first player in MSUB history to be named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year, led the GNAC in on-base percentage at .498, tied for the lead in doubles with 16, and was second in slugging percentage at .591.
The son of Butte natives Bill and Kriss (Piazzola) also led MSUB in 11statistical categories this season including, batting average, hits, doubles, slugging percentage, on base percentage, runs scored and RBIs. Miller was top three in nine categories in the entire conference.
Miller has entrenched himself in the MSUB record books in several categories after his stellar season. He now ranks in the All-Time record books in the following categories: Number two batting average in a season (.392); No. one for hits in a season (67); No. two for hits in a career (179); No. three with 37 runs scored in a season; No. two with 92 runs scored in a career; No. five for at bats in a season (171) ; No. two for a bats in a career (521); No. one for hits in a season (67); No. two for hits in a career (179); No. one for doubles in a season (16); No. three for doubles in a career (29); No. three for home runs in a season (6); No. two for home runs in a career (11); No. four for RBIs in a season (34); No. two for RBIs in a career (99); No. two for total bases in a season (101); No. three for total bases in a career (243); No. three slugging percentage in a season (.591); No. three on base percentage in a season (.498); No. five for assists in a season (115) and No. three for assists in a career (328).
“Brody deserves this honor for his terrific season,” MSUB head coach Rob Bishop said. “He has worked hard and is reaping the rewards.”
“I am thankful for this award,” Miller said. “Credit goes to my coaches and teammates for putting me in this position. Obviously the season didn’t go how we would have like it too, but I am looking forward to next year and building on what we did.”
With Miller having one more year of eligibility left, many of the single season records and career records at MSUB are set to fall should he return for his senior season.
