MSU guard Worthy to miss season

BOZEMAN — Montana State guard Mandrel Worthy’s freshman season ended before it began Tuesday, when Bobcat coach Brian Fish announced he will undergo season-ending knee surgery Friday.

Worthy’s rehabilitation could take around four months, Fish said, which means a return this season would involve only a handful of games. “We want Mandrel to get healthy and ready for a full season next year,” Fish said. “I like what he did before he had to shut it down, so we’re all excited about his future as a Bobcat.”

Fish also said that junior center Shy Blake will miss Tuesday’s contest against Northwest Indian for a violation of team rules. He will return to active duty against Hawaii on Nov. 13.
