MSU-B opens tourney with 1-point win

POMONA, Calif. — The Montana State University Billings Women’s Basketball team won their quarterfinal game against the Academy of Art on Friday, 60-59. Stats

It came down to the final minute of the game, but MSU Billings was able to hold on for the win against the PacWest champion Urban Knights.

Bobbi Knudsen scored 17 points and six assists.  Austin Hanser just missed out on a double-double.  She had a new career-high at MSUB with 14 points and nine rebounds.  Chelsea Banis had 13 points, and Alisha Breen had the game-high and a new-career high of 14 rebounds.

Butte Central graduate Quinn Peoples scored two points and grabbed three rebounds in the win.

Krystal Forthan had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Academy of Art.

MSU Billings will face a familiar opponent in the semi-final round against Simon Fraser University Saturday. Tipoff is at 6 p.m. Mountain Time.
