Mounties fall hard in Portland

PORTLAND — D.J. Adams passed for three touchdowns to lead Portland State to a 57-17 win over Eastern Oregon in a non-conference game Thursday night at JELD-WEN Field.

The Vikings, of the Big Sky Conference, led 36-0 at halftime.

Quarterack T.J. Esekielu scored on touchdown runs of 1 and 11 yards to lead the Mountaineers, who play host to Montana Tech in the Orediggers’ opener next Saturday.

Eastern newcomer Dominique Blackman, a 6-foot-5 quarterback who started seven games for the University of Idaho, didn’t play because he is still dealing with eligibility issues.
