SPOKANE — After a much closer first half, the Eastern Oregon women’s basketball team shut down the Lady Diggers in the second half. The Lady Diggers fall to the Mountaineers 71-46 at the Red Lion Cascade/Frontier Conference Challenge in Spokane.
The Orediggers only trailed 32-27 at the break.
Mandy Machinal scored 16 going 4 of 4 from three-point range and 6 of 7 in the first half. The sophomore ended the game with 23 points, three rebounds and two assists. She only had one three-pointer in the second half.
The team shot a dismal 26.7-percent in the second half.
Eastern Oregon had four players in double-figures and shot 40.8-percent from the field and 40-percent from beyond the arc.
Center Kelsey DeWit was held to eight points in the contest. She had 10 rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Jessica Sturm had six points and seven rebounds. Six of her rebounds came in the first half.
Montana Tech finishes the tournament tomorrow afternoon against Corban University at 1 p.m. MST.
