Moore’s lead tightens at Men’s State Amateur

MISSOULA — Joey Moore will enter the final round of the Montana State Men’s Amateur Championship with a one-shot lead.

The Billings native saw Bozeman’s Joey Lovell cut three shots off his lead during Friday’s second round at the Canyon River Golf Course. Lovell shot a 65 and sits at 13 under par at 131. Moore is 14 under at 130. (Leaderboard)

Moore, the 2019 champion, followed Thursday’s 62 with a 68.

Helena’s Spencer Williams hit a 65 and is two back at 132. Former three-time champion Nathan Bailey of Laurel hit a second straight 68 and is six back.

Missoula’s Sean Ramsbacher, who plays for the Montana Tech men’s golf team, slipped six shots for a 74 and is holding down eighth place at 142.

Jack Prigge, a soon-to-be Butte High junior, shot a 79 after hitting 77 on Thursday.

The tournament concludes Saturday.
