DILLON — Montana Western announced that Katie Lovett has been named head volleyball coach of the Bulldogs.
Western Athletic Director Bill Wilson made the announcement this morning.
“We are excited to have Katie Lovett join the Montana Western Family as our next head volleyball coach.” Wilson said. “Katie brings great experience as a collegiate assistant coach in a successful program. Her experience coaching both men and women brings a unique skill-set to the position that you just can’t find everywhere.”
Currently, Lovett is the women’s and men’s volleyball assistant coach at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, N.C. She was named Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NAIA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year in 2018.
“I am very excited about this opportunity and it has always been a dream of mine to be a head coach,” Lovett said. “I would like to thank everyone who helped me grow as a coach at St. Andrews University, and thank you to everyone at Montana Western that was a part of the interview process. I am excited to get on campus and get to work.”
Lovett has spent five seasons as the assistant coach of the women’s volleyball team, and three seasons as the men’s assistant. Her 2016 women’s team and 2018 men’s team qualified for the NAIA National tournament. She has coached multiple All-Conference and AVCA All-Region players, and two AAC Freshman of the Year.
Lovett will start her position in mid-January.
