DILLON — The University of Montana Western lost its Sept. 22 game to Montana State University-Northern in Havre, Mont., 39-46. The loss put Montana Western’s record at 1-3 in conference and overall, while MSU-Northern moved up to a 2-2 record overall and in conference.
The Bulldogs ended the game with 201 rushing yards while the Skylights had 214. The big difference in the game, however, was the passing yards; Montana Western’s Jeff Logan threw 38 attempts, 20 of which were complete for 292 yards and two touchdowns. However, the Bulldogs could not seem to get a hold of MSU-Northern’s Derek Lear who threw 32 complete passes out of 45 attempts for 532 yards, including seven touchdowns.
Montana Western freshman running back Dylan Kramer rushed for 80 yards off of nine attempts while quarterback Jeff Logan rushed for 65 yards off of 15 attempts.
Rashad Peniston had another strong receiving game for the Bulldogs as he ran for 177 yards off of eight receptions with two touchdowns. Matt Lickfold also had five receptions that he ran for 49 yards.
Junior linebacker Kasey Griffith had nine total tackles while freshman Dakota Pineda added eight total tackles.
The Bulldogs will have a chance to bounce back this upcoming weekend on Saturday, Sept 29 as they get ready to battle Eastern Oregon University at 1 p.m. in La Grande, Ore. Eastern Oregon has a 2-1 record this year with their only loss coming from Carroll College this past weekend.
