Montana Tech volleyball stays at No 17 in poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the second edition of the Women’s Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. Montana Tech holds at No. 17 in the bi-weekly poll.

The Orediggers (9-5, 2-0) went 2-0 last week after not playing the week before. Both victories came against Frontier Conference opponents with the regular season getting under way. The Orediggers defeated Carroll College 3-2 on the road in Helena and took down Lewis-Clark State 3-0 at home on Saturday.

Last year’s national champion Hastings (Neb.) held on to the No. 1 spot receiving 17 of the 21 first place votes. No. 2 Viterbo (Wis.) received the other four first place votes.

Rocky Mountain College is on the verge of breaking into the poll receiving 89 votes.

Montana Tech hosts two matches at the HPER Complex this week. Montana Western travels to Butte on Thursday for a 7 p.m. match. Rocky Mountain College is at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
