For the second week in a row, Montana Tech volleyball players Sabrina Hopcroft, Bailie Cornter and Makenzie Bauck swept the Frontier Conference volleyball Player of the Week awards.
Hopcroft once again took home Defender of the Week, while Cortner again won Attacker of the Week and Bauck won Setter of the Week, the league announced today.
The awards come after the Orediggers (6-2) went 3-1 at the Big Sky Volleyball Challenge at the Butte Civic Center. The Orediggers beat No. 9 Vanguard (Calif.) 3-0, Dickinson State 3-0 and Corban University 3-2, and lost to No. 11 College of Idaho 3-2.
Hopcroft is a 5-foot-7 true freshman defensive specialist from Florence. She averaged 3.50 digs per set. She recorded a 98 percent serving percentage and a 97 percent passing percentage. Hopcroft had just one return error.
Butte High graduate Hannah Amtmann, a true freshman at Montana State-Northern, was also nominated for the award. So were Kennedy Chadwick of University of Great Falls, Holly Ferguson of Rocky Mountain, Dylan Fowler of Montana Western, Natalie Kassa of Carroll College and Maya Williamson of Lewis-Clark State.
Cortner is a 6-2 senior middle blocker from Red Lodge. She averaged 2.87 kills per set with a .375 hitting percentage. She also recorded 19 blocks including 11 against C of I.
Kennadie Clute of Lewis-Clark State, Kylie Hadley of Rocky Mountain College, Tessa Miller of Montana Western, Holly Morehouse of Carroll College, Timi Severson of Montana State-Northern and Madison Wilhelm of the University of Great Falls were also nominated.
Bauck is a 5-7 senior setter from Florence. She averaged 9.69 assists and 2.63 digs per set.
Hailey Copinga of Rocky Mountain College, Bree Davis of University of Great Falls, Jonni Dorr of Carroll College, Callie Hanson of Montana Western, Amber Hillestad of Lewis-Clark State and Emily Russell of Montana State-Northern were also nominated.
