Montana Tech rakes in Frontier volleyball honors

WHITEFISH — Six Montana Tech players received honor today as Frontier Conference Commissioner Kent Paulson announced the 2019 Frontier Conference All-Conference Volleyball team, the All-Freshman team, individual award winners as well as each team’s NAIA Champions of Character recipient.

The Orediggers joined regular-season co-champion University of Providence by placing three players on the first team.

Tech senior libero Sabrina Hopcroft was joined in that honor by junior outside hitter Karina Mickelson and freshman outside hitter Maureen Jessop.

Hopcroft was also named Defensive Player of the Year, and Jessop took home Freshman of the Year accolades.

Tech freshman setter McKenna Kaelber and junior outside hitter Gena McMillan were named to the second team.

Jessop and Kaelber also earned a spot on the All-Freshman team, while junior Kamaile Moody was named Tech’s Champion of Character.

Montana Tech head coach Brian Solomon was named Coach of the Year.

Providence outside hitter Kelsey Shaver was named Player of the Year, while Natalie Hilderman of Rocky Mountain was named Setter of the Year and Lewis-Clark State right-side hitter Tori Edwards was named Newcomer of the Year.
