Kansas City, Mo. – Montana Tech is the top-scoring NAIA Champions of Character Five-Star Institution this year achieving a perfect score of 100 on the Champions of Character Scorecard. Last year Montana Tech had the second highest score.
“Montana Tech is a very unique place where we graduate individuals that shape the world in energy, the environment, safety, communications, business and healthcare,” said Athletic Director Joe McClafferty. “At Montana Tech, I truly believe we have the best student athletes in the country – the scorecard is great measurement of the type of person our student athletes embody.”
The Champions of Character Scorecard measures each institution’s commitment to the NAIA Champions of Character program. Points are earned in five key areas: character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition and character promotion.
“I am very proud of our student athletes’ dedication to excellence on and off the courts and field. I take great pride in the fact that our student athletes will be the next leaders and continue to make the world a better place.”
This year 221 NAIA institutions were named Champions of Character Five-Start Institutions. The Frontier Conference was one of six NAIA conferences that had all members earning the designation.
Rounding out the top five institutions this year are: Carroll College (Mont) (96); Paul Quinn College (Texas) (91); University of Saint Francis (Ind.) (91); and Xavier University (La.) (91).
