MISSOULA — The Orediggers shocked the state Monday night.
Sindou Diallo scored 24 points, and Taylor England buried a long 3-pointer late as the Montana Tech men’s basketball team upset the University of Montana 74-72 in Dahlberg Arena.
The exhibition win, which does not count in standings, marks the first time the Orediggers beat the Grizzlies since the 1947-48 season.
England poured in 15 points for the Orediggers, who saw eight players find the score book. Troy Owens junior scored 10 points for Tech, which got eight from Christian Jones, seven from Drew Huse, six from Dylan Panabecker, three from Derrius Collins and one from Cody Baumstarck.
Kendal Manuel scored 25 points to lead four Grizzlies in double figures. Kyle Owens and Sayeed Pridgett each score 14, and Timmy Falls tossed in 11.
The Orediggers (3-3 overall) are back in action next Tuesday when they play host to Yellowstone Christian College. Four days later, they play an exhibition at Brigham Young University.
Tech opens Frontier Conference play Dec. 3 at Carroll College.
The Grizzlies play at Washington on Friday.
