MISSOULA — The Montana State track and field teams continued their recent dominance in the Cat-Griz Dual with the Bobcat men’s and women’s squads each earning victories over the host Grizzlies Saturday at Dornblaser Field.
The Bobcat men won their fifth straight Dual against the Griz, 126-71, while the MSU women picked up their fourth win in their last five dual meetings against Montana by a 104-85 margin. (Results)
The women’s side of the meet saw athletes from the Mining City make their mark.
Montana State’s Rachael McGree, a true freshman from Butte Central, posted a personal record with a time of 14.83 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles. That was good for fourth place.
McGree also placed fourth in the 100-meter dash, crossing in 13.35.
For the Grizzlies, former Butte High Bulldog Abby Dodge, a true freshman, placed second in the high jump. She cleared 5 feet, 3 ¾ inches. Teammate Jane Booth won the event by clearing 5-3 ¾.
Redshirt freshman Mijah McLeod, also a former Bulldog, ran the first leg of UM’s victorious 1,600-meter relay team. The Griz finished the race in 3:52.03. McLeod also ran the third leg of the second-place UM 400-meter relay team.
The Bobcats and Grizzlies will compete in the Tom Cage Classic Friday in Missoula. That will be the final tune up before the May 8-11 Big Sky Outdoor Championships in Moscow, Idaho.
