Montana Breakers win Spokane tourney

A team made up of eight Montana high school girls basketball players captured the championship of the Stars Shootout AAU Basketball Tournament over the weekend at the Warehouse Basketball Complex in Spokane, Wash.

The team opened up the tournament with a 36-35 loss to the Hoops Dream Basketball Club of Boise, Idaho, before winning three straight games to advance tot he championship game.  The Montana girls defeated the Spokane Legacy 52-47, the Hoops Dream (Blue) of Boise 42-36, and the North Idaho Elite of Coeur d’Alene 53-47.

In the tournament championship game, the Breakers defeated the Spokane Stars 36-35.

Team members for the Montana Breakers are: Emily St. John, and Mollie Peoples of Butte Central; Nikki Krueger, Zoee Boschee and Tess Krueger of Kalispell Glacier High School; Lexy Steele and Shannon Worster of Missoula Sentinel; and Shelby Phillips of Great Falls Russell.

Art Krueger coached the team in the tournament.
