Missoula’s Swanson takes State Am lead with a 65

GREAT FALLS — Missoula golfer Tom Swanson got off to a fast start at the 98th Montana State Men’s Amateur golf tournament Thursday.

Swanson shot a 7-under-par 65 at Meadow Lark Country Club to take a four shot lead with 36 holes left to play.

Easton Enott of Great Falls, Eli Rogers of Hamilton, Ryan Porche of Kalispell and Bill Dunn of Missoula are tied for second after a first-round 69. The first day saw 13 players break par.

Two-time defending champion Brandon McIver of Billings shot an even-par 72.
