Mission basketball game to pit Bulldogs vs. Maroons

Mission basketball game to pit Bulldogs vs. Maroons

March Madness is coming to the Mining City, and it is bringing a great cause with it.

The Headframe Hoops Classic Basketball Game will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21 at the Maroon Activities Center.

The game will put Butte High vs. Butte Central faculty and alumni. A custom-made trophy, welded by Butte High students, will commemorate the annual event and travel back and forth between the two high schools.

The Butte Rescue Mission is putting on the co-rec basketball game that will raise money toward feeding, clothing and sheltering homeless men, women and children in Southwest Montana when the Mission reopens in May.

A halftime kids’ timed shooting event will also be held. That event will feature categories for boys and girls in grades 7 through 12. It will challenge the youths to shoot a 3-point shot, a free throw and a layup in 24 seconds.

The halftime shootout will pit the best shooters from East Middle School and Butte High School against the best from Butte Central.

Players and sponsors for the game are needed. Click the links below for more information on how to play or sponsor the inaugural event.

The Butte Rescue Mission is also planning a fundraising golf tournament for May 19 at the Old Works in Anaconda. Click the link below for sponsorship opportunities for that tournament.
