Mining City Pink clicks for 6 seeded 14u Magic team

The Mining City Magic traveled to Helena this past weekend for a 14u fast pitch tournament. After pool play Saturday the girls found themselves as the 6 seed headed into Sunday, but after all just like March Madness that number next to the team name is just that a number.

For those who don’t know it or may not remember, last year a great young lady lost her life to senseless and selfish driving as she was in a head on crash while the other driver was under the influence causing Delaney Doherty to lose her life.

This season her team, the Lady Manhattan Tigers dug really deep and before the season began manifested that they were going to bring home a state championship for Delaney. The team wears pink jerseys and socks to honor Doherty on Sundays and they were able to capture a State Championship for Doherty. Remarkable.

This past Sunday the Mining City magic dawned some pink threads and went out and did the damn thing in honor of Delaney. They came in Sunday as the 6 seed and pulled their best Aaron Rodgers move and ran the table. What’s even cooler is the Magic head coach McCaul McCarthy is a cousin of Doherty making it all that more special for the coach and the girls on the team.

The magic captured the 14u gold bracket with a first place victory Sunday to cap it all off. A big congratulations to these girls for just going out and doing what they love and leaving it all on the field.
Great job ladies Butte is proud!
