DEER LODGE — Butte golfers had a strong day at the Powell County Invitational Monday at the Deer Park Golf Club.
Players from the Mining City won five out of the six divisions of the tournament, which was the fourth stop of the 2019 Southwest Montana Junior Golf Tour. (Complete results)
Kaven Noctor, Jack Prigge, Gavin Roesti, Ella Prigge and Kodie Hoagland all topped their field as the tour gets ready to move back to Butte for next Monday’s Par 3 Challenge.
Noctor fired a 2-over-par 74 to win the Dustin Johnson Division for boys 16-17. That was four shots better than Butte’s Ty Insko, who shot 78 for second place.
Jack Prigge’s 81 topped the field in the Jordan Spieth Division for boys 14-15. Preston Field of Clancy placed second at 90, one shot better than Helena’s Joseph McGreevey.
Roesti hit a 48 to win the nine-hole Rickie Fowler Division for boys 12-13. Kyler Engellant of Dillon placed second at 52. Chase Choquette and Brenner Booth of Butte followed at 57 and 58.
Ella Prigge carded an 88 to win the Lexi Thompson Division for girls 16-17. Fellow Butte golfer Nacole Sestrich took second at 94. Butte’s Megan Savage was third at 101.
Hoagland’s 90 won the Nelly Korda Division for girls 14-15. She edged Helena’s Sarah Halferty by one shot. Butte’s Kennedy Lean was third at 105.
Helena’s Olivia McGreevey was the lone player in the Christie Ker Division for girls 12-13. She shot a 60 over nine holes.
