Miners sweep past A’s on ‘Digger Night’

The Butte Miners celebrated “Digger Night” by lighting up the scoreboard.

Butte’s American Legion Baseball team routed the Anaconda A’s twice during a Southern A doubleheader on Miners Field at 3 Legend Stadium.

Butte put up 36 runs on the cool, rainy night in beating Anaconda 18-6 and 18-1. Both games were called by the 10-run rule after five innings.

The sweep was the second of Anaconda in six days. Butte took two from Anaconda Sunday at Washoe Park.

Butte’s players wore Montana Tech colors as the team paid tribute to its partnership with the Orediggers. The games also served as the home finales for the Miners (10-6 in conference), who head to Dillon for a doubleheader with the Cubs on Sunday.
