The Butte Miners celebrated “Digger Night” by lighting up the scoreboard.
Butte’s American Legion Baseball team routed the Anaconda A’s twice during a Southern A doubleheader on Miners Field at 3 Legend Stadium.
Butte put up 36 runs on the cool, rainy night in beating Anaconda 18-6 and 18-1. Both games were called by the 10-run rule after five innings.
The sweep was the second of Anaconda in six days. Butte took two from Anaconda Sunday at Washoe Park.
Butte’s players wore Montana Tech colors as the team paid tribute to its partnership with the Orediggers. The games also served as the home finales for the Miners (10-6 in conference), who head to Dillon for a doubleheader with the Cubs on Sunday.

The Miners pounded 13 hits in the opener.
Rylan Richards and Casey Kautzman each hit a double and a single to highlight the Butte attack. Kautzman drove in three runs, while Richards knocked in two.
Ryan Wahl and Erik Hart each smacked two singles, while Egan Lester, Coyt Stajcar, Wolfgang Doty-Basel, Aidan Lee and Reece Cox each hit one. Lester, Wahl and Lee joined Richards with two RBIs.
Wahl started and pitched three innings for the win. Dott-Basel and Evan Starr also pitched in the victory.
Andrew Tallon hit a pair of singles to lead the A’s. Braedon Sawyer, Luke Jensen and Connor Sampson each hit one.
Butte 18, Anaconda 1 (Box score)
Payton Hettick pitched five innings of one-hit ball to get the win in the nightcap. He struck out five and worked around three walks.
Hettick and Ryan Burt each hit a double to lead Butte’s 11-hit offensive. Hettick also singled, and Egan Lester hit two singles. Kautzman, Wahl, Lee, Stajcar, Richards and Kenley Leary each hit one.
Burt and Kautzman each drove in a pair of runs.
Jensen singled for the A’s lone hit.
