The Butte Miners swept a non-conference doubleheader with the Missoula Frontiers Sunday at Copper Mountain Park.
Butte won the first game 12-11 before completing the sweep with a 10-4 victory.
Cody Sletten, Tanner Costello and Colten Billteen each pounded two hits to lead the Miners in the opener. Tristan Frey doubled, while Marcus Madrazo, Ty Harney, Nate LeProwse, Killian O’Leary and Trey Hoagland singled in the win.
Zach Hart pitched into the seventh for the win. LeProwse moved over from second base to pick up a high-pressure save. He worked out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam.
Lucas Bewley had a four-hit day for the Frontiers. That included a double.
The Miners scored five in the first and four in the second in Game 2. Trent Maloney gave up three runs over four innings, while Costello surrendered one in three innings in relief.
Billteen smacked two singles in the victory. Costello tripled and Jimmy Martz doubled. Sletten, Dylan McDonald, Maloney and Hoagland singled.
Alder Shild hit a double and a single to lead the Frontiers.
The Miners, who improve d 4-5 on the season, are back at home next Saturday. They’ll play a doubleheader against the Missoula Pioneers.
