The Butte Miners visited the Dillon Cubs over the weekend and split the 2 games played. The Miners battled in game one as the score was tied 2-2 heading into the bottom of the 6th inning.
The Miners out hit the Cubs but a costly error in the 6th allowed the Cubs to pull out the Victory, Rye Doherty took the mound while allowing 7 hits in 6 innings work and recording 7 K’s.
Game 2 had a much different outcome and Rye Doherty led the Charge for Butte as he hit in 5 runs on 3 hits leading the Miners to a 20-3 blowout Victory for some redemption.
The Miners scored a whopping 8 runs in the top of the second inning. Gavin Trudgeon recorded the win on the bump for the Miners allowing 3 runs un 4 innings of work and striking out 4. Trey Hansen came in a closed the door on the Cubs.
Tony Knott, Tocher Lee and Mason Armstrong all had hits and Rye Doherty had a triple, while Kevin Donaldson and Cayde Stajcar each had a sac fly apiece.
The Miners return to action Wednesday afternoon in a double- header and conference clash against the Helena Reps at 3 Legends Stadium.
