MISSOULA — The Butte Miners won one and lost one Saturday as they took on the Missoula Mavericks A in a non-conference American Legion doubleheader.
Missoula edged the Miners 5-2 in the opener. Butte outslugged the Mavs 20-16 in Game 2.
The Miners are winners of five of six and head to Bozeman for a conference twin bill Sunday with a record of 5-3 in Southern A play and 6-8 overall.

Jarek Bodlovic hit a double and a single, and Ethan Parker and Nico Peterson took to the bump to slow down the Miners bats in the opener.
Joey Leary, Mike Prather and Eamon Higgins drove in runs for the home team.
Kenley Leary went 3 for 4 from the No. 2 hole to lead the Miner attack. Ryan Wahl, Ryan Burt and Hunter Salcido each hit a single. Wahl and Coyt Stajcar knocked in runs for Butte.
Ethan Edwards pitched the distance, striking out one and walking six in the loss.
Miners 20, Mavericks 16 (Boxscore)
The Miners rode a 12-run second inning to the victory in Game 2.
Six different Miners poked two hits in the game. Evan Star belted a pair of doubles, while Leary, back in the leadoff spot, hit a single and a double.
Stajcar, Salcido, Eagan Lester and Ryan Burt each hit two singles. Wahl, Kian O’Neill and Reece Cox added singles.
Starr and Stajcar each knocked in three runs apiece. Leary and Lester both drove in two, and Wahl, O’Neill and Burt knocked in one. Edwards and Starr, batting Nos. 8 and 9 in the lineup, both scored four runs. Salcido, Lester and Leary each scored three times.
Stajcar pitched six innings of relief, striking out seven and walking six to get the win. He threw 102 pitches.
Nick Breen and Peterson doubled to lead the Mavs, who scored eight runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
