GREAT FALLS — The Butte Miners opened their Eastern AA schedule with a doubleheader split with the Great Falls Chargers Tuesday night.

The Miners won the opener 10-0 in five innings. Great Falls battled back to win the nightcap 5-4.

Butte will play at home Thursday when the Helena Senators come to town for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader.

Trey Hoagland and Zach Hart, the Nos. 1 and 2 hitters, set the plate for the Miners by going 3 for 3 in the victory that was called by the 10-run rule after five innings.

Hoagland scored four runs, while Hart joined Ryan Moodry and Nate LeProwse with a double. Quin Summers added a single for Butte. Hoagland pitched the distance, striking out one and scattering four hits in the win.

A.J. Folds doubled to lead the Chargers.

Christian Wetzel hit a two-run double to highlight the Charger attack in Game 2. Daniel Bonilla doubled and scored a pair of runs.

LeProwse, who pitched the distance, hit a two-run double to lead the Miners. Zach Hart hit an RBI single.

Hart and Trey Berger both doubled and scored in the loss.
