DILLON — An 11-day break could not cool off the Butte Miners.
The Miners ran their winning streak to seven games Sunday with a doubleheader sweep of the Dillon Cubs. Butte won 11-0 and 9-1 to open South A play.
Kenley Leary and Ethan “Easy” Cunningham spun complete-game gems to lead the Miners in the wins.
Butte (11-5) has won 11 out of its last 12 games. The Miners will play at Bozeman on Friday.
Game 1
Butte Miners 11, Dillon Cubs 5 (Boxscore)
Cunningham struck out 14 batters and scattered five hits in the complete-game victory.
Cayde Stajcar hit a double and a single to lead Butte’s 13-hit attack. He was one of five players with two hits on the game. Eric Hart, Zach Tierney, Aidan Lee and Egan Lester each poked a pair of singles.
Lee drove in two runs, while Leary, Kevin Donaldson and Quinn Cox each hit singles.
Game 2
Butte Miners 9, Dillon Cubs 1 (Boxscore)
Leary came within an infield single of a no-hitter, and Stajcar was a double away from hitting for the cycle in Game 2.
He struck out seven batters in the game that was called by the 10-run rule after five innings. Butte led 4-0 before busting it open with six runs in the fourth.
Stajcar went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, five RBIs and four runs scored. He also walked.
Lester, Lee and Evan Starr each hit two singles, while Hart, Cunningham and Ossello each hit one.
