The Butte Miners and Bitterroot Bucs split a non-conference doubleheader Saturday at Copper Mountain Park.

Bitterroot won the opener 3-2 as the Miners stranded the tying run on third base in the seventh inning. Butte battled back to walk off with a 2-1 win in Game 2 as Trey Berger outdueled Bitterroot pitcher Liam LeCoure.

The Miners will play host to Twin Falls on Sunday. The Butte Club will be celebrating Montana Tech Day during the 1 p.m. non-conference doubleheader.

The Miners outhit Bitterroot 7-4, but the Bucs got the hits when they mattered.

Jake Finley hit a two-run double to highlight Bitterroot’s three-run fifth inning.

Dylan Gavlak pitched six innings to pick up the win. He struck out four and walked five as the Miners stranded 11 base runners, including two in the final frame. Reese LeSoine pitched the seventh for the white-knuckle save.

Nate LeProwse singled and scored on a Ryan Moodry single in the fifth. An inning later, LeProwse singled in Quin Summers, who pinch ran for Logan LaFromboise.

LeProwse and Dyllan “Kruk” Lane each went 2 for 3, while Zach Hart joined Moodry and LaFromboise with a single.

Summers struck out nine batters while pitching the distance in the hard-luck loss. None of the runs allowed were earned.

Butte Miners 2, Bitterroot Bucs 1
The Miners rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to grab the win.

Quin Summers walked and scored on an error. Justin Summers scored came home on a wild pitch for the winning run, which came with two out.

Bo Zeiler gave the Bucs a 1-0 lead in the fifth. He was hit on a pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Finley.

Berger struck out five and walked one in the win. He surrendered just two hits in seven innings.

LeCoure fanned six and walked four. He also gave up just two hits.

LeSoine doubled, and Dylan Gavlak singled for the Bucks. Moodry and Justin Summers singled for Butte.
