BOZEMAN — The Butte Miners scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning for an 8-6 win over the Dillon Cubs Friday in the first round of the Southern A District American Legion Baseball tournament. (Box score)
Egan Lester reached on an error and Ryan Wahl singled to lead off the sixth inning. Both scored on errors as broke the 6-all tie.
The rally came after the Cubs scored one in the four in the fifth and one in the sixth to overcome a 6-0 deficit.
Wahl pitched one and a third innings in relief to get the win. He struck out three after following Peyton Hettick and Casey Kautzman.
Aidan Lee hit a double and a single, driving in two runs to lead the Miner offense. Wahl hit two singles and knocked in a run. Scout Allen, Hettick and Eric Hart joined Lester with a single.
Wahl and Rylan Richards also drew walks for the Miners, who scored two in the first and four in the third.
Leadoff hitter Pete Gibson hit two singles to lead the Cubs. Hunter Wentworth and Cole Johnston added hits, while Preston Hales drove in two runs.
Gibson pitched the distance in the loss.
The Miners will play the Belgrade in the second round at 4 p.m. Friday. The top two teams from the tournament advance to the State A tournament.
