Miners, Muckers drop two

The Butte Miners and Butte Muckers each fell in non-conference doubleheaders Saturday in Northwestern Montana.

The Miners dropped two to the Glacier Twins, while the Muckers fell twice to the Kalispell Lakers B team.

Zach Vememan struck out eight batters in five one-hit innings as the Twins beat the Miners 10-0 in the opener. Trenton Tyree drove in three runs as Glacier completed the sweep with an 8-4 win in the night cap.

Evan Starr poked a single for Butte’s lone hit in the opener. Scout Allen smacked a pair of hits in Game 2. Coyt Stajcar and Kian O’Neill doubled, while Star, Egan Lester and Ryan Wahl hit singles.

The Lakers beat the Muckers 12-1 and 11-3. (Game 1 box; Game 2 box)

Ethan Edwards, Kooper Clobucar, Max Demarais and Hunter Salcido singled to lead Butte in the opener. Zach Tierney went 3 for 4 with three doubles to lead Butte in Game 2.

The Miners play two against the Lakers AA today. The miners play the Lakers A.
