DILLON — It was a day of missed opportunities for the Butte Miners Friday.
The Miners failed to take advantage of seven walks and fell 10-2 to the Missoula Pioneers. The game was part of the Maybelle Arthur American Legion Baseball tournament hosted by the Dillon Cubs at Vigilante Park.
Trey Hoagland and Kilian O’Leary each singled, accounting for Butte’s only two hits of the game. Marcus Madrazo and Dylan McDonald each drove in a run, scoring Jimmy Martz and Zach Hart.
Aaron Gregg went 3 for 4 to lead the Pioneers. Aaron Gregg pitched the distance for the win.
The Miners play two more tournament games on Saturday. Butte plays the Great Falls Hawks at 10 a.m. before taking on the Mission Valley mariners at 3 p.m.
