WHITEFISH — The Butte Miners went 1-1 on the first day of the Sapa-Johnsrud Class A-AA Tournament Friday at Glacier Twins Memorial Field.
The Miners fell 2-1 to the North Spokane Dodgers before bouncing back to beat the Spokane Cannons 8-6.
Butte will play the Webber Academy from Whitefish at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday’s play depends on seeding.

Talk about a tough way for Ethan “Easy” Cunningham to take his first loss of the year.
Cory Hendren worked seven innings to top Cunningham and the Miners in a seven-inning pitchers dual. Hendren scattered three hits, worked around five walks and struck out six batters for the win.
Zach Bowman tripled to lead the Dodgers, who were held to three hits by Cunningham, who worked five innings, and Tyler Duffy.
Aidan Lee belted two singles and drove in Butte’s lone run in Kenley Leary. Sean Ossello added a single, and Leary walked twice. Cayde Stajcar, Rye Doherty and Zach Tierney also walked for Butte.
Butte Miners 8, Spokane Cannons 6 (Boxscore)
Butte’s bats erupted for 10 hits, including four for extra bases as the Miners bounced back for the victory.
Tierney hit a pair of doubles and drove in a run for the Miners. Leary and Eric “Chooch” Harteach hit a double and a single.
Egan Lester, Rye Doherty, Ossello and Lee added singles for Butte. Lester and Hart each drove in two runs. Cayde Stajcar pitched five innings for the win.
Jamel Chabot hit a double and a single to drive in three runs for the Cannons. Eugene Haas III poked three singles.
