The winner of that game will play the loser of today’s 2 p.m. game between Belgrade and Gallatin Valley Sunday morning with a trip to the Class A State tournament on the line.

Wahl pitched the distance, scattering three hits as Butte squeaked past Dillon. He struck out seven and worked around four walks.

Wahl also singled in Eyston Lakkala with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth inning, breaking a 1-all tie. Lakkala singled and took second on passed ball before scoring on Wahl’s hit to left field.

Kenley Leary walked and scored when Lakkala bounced into a double play for an insurance run in the sixth.

The Miners struck first when Leary singled, stole second and scored on a Reece Cox double in the second inning.

Dillon tied the game at 1 in the fourth when Jace Fitzgerald doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Kale Konen.

Fitzgerald went the distance on the bump for the Cubs, who close the season at 16-19. He struck out four, walked three and gave up just five hits.

Cox was the lone Butte player with two hits. Conner Vezina and Konen singled for the Cubs.
