WHITEFISH — The Butte Miners dropped both ends of a season-opening doubleheader against the Glacier Twins Saturday.
The Twins opened the non-conference doubleheader with a 10-9 victory. The completed the sweep with a 9-4 win.
The Miners will play a noon twin bill at Kalispell on Sunday. The Miners will play their home opener Thursday against the Helena Senators.
Glacier Twins 10, Butte Miners 9 (Boxscore)
Orion Barta scored on a walk-off wild pitch as the Twins came back from a 9-3 deficit for the win.
Rylan Richards doubled, while Eric Hart singled and drove in two runs to lead Butte’s offense. Coyt Stajcar, Kian O’Neill, Aidan Lee, Hunter Hotalen and Max Demarais hit singles for the Miners.
Glacier Twins 9, Butte Miners 4 (Boxscore)
Butte took another lead in the nightcap, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning.
Glacier, though, stormed back with four in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good. Stevyn Andrachick tripled and George Robins doubled to lead the Twins.
Richards tripled and singled to lead the Miners. Hunter Hotalen hit two singles after throwing the discus for Butte High in Kalispell. Reece Cox, Egan Lester, Hart, O’Neill and Stajcar also singled.
Lester played in the second game after competing for Butte Central in the John Tomich Invitational in Butte.
