The Butte Miners will celebrate “Digger Day” on June 20 when the American Legion Baseball team takes on the Mount Spokane Wild on Miners Field at 3 Legends Stadium.
The Miners will wear green in honor of the Montana Tech Orediggers during the seven-inning game, which will begin at 7 p.m.
All proceeds from the game will go towards a Butte American Legion baseball players scholarship to Montana Tech. This will be the third time Montana Tech and American Legion will team up for a game.
“Montana Tech is excited to continue to partner with American Legion baseball to give the young men of Butte an opportunity to get on an extraordinary path and live out their educational dreams,” said Joe McClafferty, president of the Montana Tech Foundation.
“Butte American Legion baseball is honored to have Montana Tech sponsor a 2019 game at 3 Legends Stadium at Miners field,” Miners coach Jeff LeProwse said. “Many of our alumni, current coaches and board members have attended and graduated from Montana Tech. The goal of our program is to build a foundation for our student-athletes to become successful after high school and partnering with a great institution like Montana Tech helps make that a reality. Each year our organization looks forward to hosting digger day in support of our outstanding local institution. We invite all Digger alumni to done green with us for a game at our ballpark as the Miners take on Wild.”
Montana Tech’s Charlie Oredigger will throw out the first pitch.
