HELENA — Sunday’s thunderstorms got the best of the Butte Miners.
The red-hot Butte boys led the Calgary Cardinals 4-1 in the bottom of the third inning when rain halted play for the day at the 27th Annual Keith Sell Tournament. The Miners were the home team.
Butte was also scheduled to play the Calgary Bucks at Kindrick Legion Park.
Instead, Butte will play Bozeman at 4:30 p.m. Monday. A win will send the Miners to the championship game against Helena at 7.
Rye Doherty tripled in two runs before for play ended Sunday. Kenley Leary, Sean Ossello and Anthony Knott singled. Eric Hart knocked in a run. Cayde Stajcar was pitching for Butte. He struck out five.
