Miners bounce back with win over Cannons

WHITEFISH — The Butte Miners won in dramatic fashion Saturday at the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial tournament.

The Miners bounced back from Friday’s 9-1 loss to the Glacier Twins (Box score) to beat the Spokane Cannons 6-5 (Box score) to improve to 1-3 on the tournament.

Butte rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead.

Rylan Richards then finished the complete game for the victory. He scattered three hits and fanned 11 batters in the win. Richards worked around four walks, only four of the runs allowed were earned.

Ryan Wahl went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI to lead Butte’s nine-hit attack in the win over the Cannons.

Scout Allen, Egan Lester, Peyton Hettick, Eric Hart, Kian O’Neill and Kenley Leary added singles in the win.

Richards doubled to lead the Miners in Friday’s loss. Hart and Hunter Bugni singled.

The Miners close out the tournament Sunday with a seeded game.
