The Butte Miners began their ran at a chance for a repeat State Championship as they faced off against the Helena Reps after garnering a 1 seed and a first round bye.
In what was a close battle the Mine Boys pulled out a victory 4-2 over Helena behind the arm of senior Rye Doherty.
Rye pitched a complete game in a four hit affair he also struck out 4. Super senior Kenley Leary laced a double while short stop Clyde Stajcar went 3-3 at the plate with a double as well. The Mine Boys also saw hit from Quinn Cox, Tony Knott, and Kevin Donaldson in the win.
The Miners will play the winner of GVO and Belgrade on Saturday at 2pm. We will post updated scores and progress as the stats and info become available.
