BILLINGS — On a day when Butte native Bryon Baker returned to the mound to pitch in relief, Brody Miller stole the show.

Miller, a Missoula native who is the son of Butte natives Bill and Kriss (Piazzola) Miller, hit two home runs Saturday as MSU Billings beat Central Washington 21-8 and 10-9 Saturday.

Miller, a finalist for the Little Sullivan Award, hit a grand slam in the opener. It was his second grand slam in as many days. He also hit a slam in Friday’s 11-8 win over Central Washington. MSU Billings fell 5-4 in Friday’s nightcap.

Baker, who is pitching with a shoulder injury, threw an inning and two thirds in relief in the opener. He gave up three hits and two unearned runs. Baker struck out two of the nine batters he faced.

Baker, the son of Butte’s Angie Conlan and Corey Baker, will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum next month.

Thanks for the nice write up about Bryon this last weekend Bill. You do a great job about our Butte kids. Not like the Montana Substandard and the KXLF TV. Thanks again
