Mike Person starts at center for Atlanta Falcons

The first Monday Night Football game of the season had some serious Butte interest.

Glendive native and former Montana State Bobcat Mike Person started at center for the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome. The Falcons beat the Philadelphia Eagles in a 26-24 thriller.

Person is the son of Jim Person and the late Shelly (Lowney) Person. His father was an All-American football player at Montana Tech. His mother, who passed away several years ago, is a Butte native.

Jim Person, who play for the Orediggers alongside the legendary Don Heater, is currently the activities director at Dawson County High School in Glendive.

Mike Person, 27, has many relatives in the Mining City. His sister Sara (Person) Hauser was once the activities director at Butte Central.

The 6-foot-4, 299-pound Mike Person was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the 2011 draft. He spent 2011 with the 49ers before spending time with the Indianapolis Colts, Seattle Seahawks and St. Louis Rams before finding a home in Atlanta.
