Midland tops Orediggers in three

HELENA — The 2013 season got off to an unceremonious start for the Montana Tech volleyball team.

Midland University swept past the Orediggers 29-9, 25-17, 25-15 in a non-conference match at the Carroll College P.E. Center. Midland improved to 3-0.

K.C. Heinmann tallied 11 kill, while Mackenzie Scheef killed 10 to lead Midland to the win.

Annie Smoot and Korey Krumm paced the Orediggers attack, each tallying four kills Sydney Norris and Jordan Danz each killed three. Alison Lunde dished up 10 assists, while Kimmy Kavran collected 12 digs.

The Orediggers also scrimmaged Carroll College. Scores from that are not available.

Tech heads to Spokane for the Red Lion Cascade/Frontier Challenge next weekend.
