BELGRADE — The Conrad Cowgirls claimed the Class B-C State softball title Saturday with a 12-2 win over Ronan in the championship game.
Conrad, which co-opts with Choteau, won the state title for the first time in school history.
The Cowgirls are coached by Butte native Mick Morris, who was a multi-sport athlete at Butte High School. Morris also played American Legion baseball for the Butte Miners.
Pitcher Michaela DeBoo homered and drove in three runs to lead the Cowgirls, who busted the game open with a seven-run third inning. Nicole Erickson also drove in three wins in the title game.
The game was called after six innings by the 10 run rule.
Morris is also the head coach of the Conrad football team. Last fall he led the Cowboys deep into the Class B playoffs. The Cowboys fell to eventual champion Townsend in the semifinals.
