BUTTE, Mont. – The Montana Tech men’s basketball team will lift their most recent championship banner honoring last season’s accomplishment Wednesday at the Oredigger volleyball match. The Oredigger’s take the court at 7 p.m. with the gates opening at 6 p.m.
The Oredigger men’s basketball team won their second straight Frontier Conference regular season and tournament titles last year. The dual back-to-back championship has only happened one other time in program history. Winning all 18 home games last year, Tech has won 30 straight contests on Kelvin Sampson Court. The Orediggers finished with a 12-3 record in conference action tying the best conference record in program history. Tech went on to win their second consecutive Frontier Conference Tournament last season reaching the NAIA National Championship for the second straight year.
Montana Tech went the furthest any Oredigger basketball team has gone in the post season reaching the NAIA National Championship Quarterfinals in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Orediggers finished with a 29- 5 overall record, the best record by an Oredigger basketball team in the history of the program.
The Frontier Conference Championship banner will be unveiled between the first and second set of the match.
