Men’s Basketball Cruises by Mountaineers 78-65

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Tech men’s basketball team picked up their second win of the weekend defeating Eastern Oregon 78-65.

Asa Williams helped the Orediggers get off to a great start in the first half dropping 16 points giving Tech a 42-33 lead going into the break at halftime. Williams finished with 30 points in the game going 10 for 16 from the field and 4 for 9 from beyond the arc.

The Orediggers (3-0) shot 59.3% from the field in the first half and 51.9% in the game.

Keeley Bake had 14 points off the bench hitting 3 of 4 from long.

Hayden Diekha had 11 points and Ifeanyi Okekehad 10.

Michael Ure had a game-high 11 rebounds and seven points.

The Orediggers recorded nine steels in the game with Williams and Bake nabbing tree each.

Adam Orr and Malchi Afework led the Mountaineers with 18 points each. Orr went 6 for 1-0 from three point range.

Garret Hawkes led the Mountaineers in rebounds with six.

The Orediggers return home next weekend for the Montana Tech Tip Off Classic. Tech faces Northern New Mexico College on Friday at 7 p.m.
