McKeon, Faupel, Skylights roll into 2014

The MSU-Northern women’s basketball team is off to a fast start in 2013-14.

The Skylights are 11-2 overall and 1-0 in Frontier Conference play as they head to Billings to take on Rocky Mountain College tonight.

Northern is also winning with a little bit of Butte flavor.

Mining City prep stars Kacie McKeon and Natalee Faupel have helped guide the Skylights, who are coached by Chirs Mouat, a former head girls’ coach at Butte High and Montana Tech women’s assistant.

McKeon, a sophomore from Butte Central, has played in six games, starting five. She averages 8.8 points and 27.3 minutes per game.

Faupel, a true freshman from Butte High, appeared in all 13 MSU-Northern games, starting seven. Faupel averages 21 minutes per game and she’s scoring 7.2 points per contest.

The Skylights will play at Dickinson State on Saturday.

Northern plays Montana Tech in Butte on Jan. 17.
