CORVALLIS — Butte Central athletes Rileigh McGree and Ella Moodry posted individual victories Thursday at the Sapphire Twilight Invitational. (Results)
Butte Central’s girls placed fifth in team standings with 49 points. Dillon won the title at 129. Corvallis was second at 113, followed by Columbia Falls at 108 and Hamilton at 65.
Hamilton won the boys title at 165.66 points. Dillon was second at 138.4. Butte Central’s boys did not make the trip because they will compete in the Dahlberg Invitational on Friday.
McGree, a senior who signed to run at the University of Montana, won the 100-meter hurdles and the long jump.
She finished the hurdles in a season-best 16.26 seconds. Olivia Lewis of Corvallis took second in 16.43. McGree’s mark of 17-1 ½ in the long jump was also a season-best mark. Emily Maughan of Seeley-Swan was second in 16-10.
Moodry, a sophomore, placed in four events. She won the javelin with a mark of 108-1. She also took second in the 200 and high jump. Moodry placed sixth in the long jump.
Senior Kinley Hamilton, a future Carroll College Fighting Saint, also scored points for the Maroons. She placed second in the shot put with a mark of 33-0. Madison Lewis of Corvallis won with a toss of 40-3.
Central will host the John Tomich April 30 at the Charlie Merrifield Track inside the Gene Fogarty Complex.
