MISSOULA — Butte High seniors Brooke McGrath and Katie Keller will be heading home from the Class AA State tennis tournament.
The Bulldogs went 1-2 in girls’ doubles, playing two three-set battles Thursday.
McGrath and Keller downed Ava Roe and Brooklyn Helmer of Billings Skyview 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 in the first round. They fell 6-3, 6-1 to Kalispell Glacier’s Haven Speer and Sarah Downs in the quarterfinals before dropping a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 decision to Missoula Big Sky’s Kadyn Easter and Amber Williams.
The appearance at State closes the book on two remarkable Bulldogs careers. McGrath and Keller were both standouts for the Butte High volleyball team. McGrath was also a key player in Butte High’s basketball program.
Last week, the Bulldog duo placed third at the Western AA Divisional tournament in Missoula.
