McGeehan second, McGee third at Anaconda Invite

Butte Central cross country runners Brian McGeehan and Abby McGee led the way Saturday as the Maroons put up a strong showing at the Anaconda Invitational.

The race was held at the Discovery Basin Ski Area.

McGeehan placed second in the boys’ 3-mile race in 18 minutes, 5 seconds. McGee ran to third place in the girls’ race, clocking in with a time of 21:47.

Also for BC, Zach Carlson placed fifth in 19:00, and Nathan Ortega placed 14th in 22:33.

“The course was enjoyed by all the runners, but it was definitely a challenging course,” Butte Central coach Bob Johnson said. “They all performed well today, and the times matched the course.”

Johnson pointed out that eighth grader Savannah Parks won the middle school girls’ 2.2-mile race.

Next up for the Maroons is the Mountain West meet in Missoula next Saturday.
