McGee third in Anaconda race

ANACONDA — Butte Central sophomore Conor McGee placed third at the Anaconda Cross Country Invitational Saturday at Washoe Park.

McGee finished the 3-mile course in 17 minutes, 10 seconds. Anaconda’s Aidan Theard won the race in a blistering 16:27, one second better than Morly Jessop of Corvallis.

BC freshman Shannon Temple placed sixth in the race in 17:58, while sophomore Clay Stillwaygon finished in 21:04 and freshmen Connor Larson finished in 23:30.

Butte Central coach Bob Johnson said all four BC runners notched personal-best times. The coach also said that Jarrett Larson has joined the team. Once he gets his two weeks of practice in, the Maroons will have enough runners for a team score.

Sadie Henderson of Corvallis won the girls’ race in 18:38. Olivia wood of Anaconda took second in 19:02.
