MISSOULA — The Butte Miners dropped a pair of non-conference games to the Missoula Mavericks AA Sunday afternoon.
Missoula won the opener 7-1 before completing the sweep with a 6-1 win in Game 2.
The Miners are back in action Wednesday when they head to Helena for a Southern A doubleheader with the Reps.
Missoula 7, Butte 1
Parker Stevens pitched into the seventh inning scattering three Butte hits to get the win. He struck out three and walked one.
Dane Fraser hit a triple and a double, and Andrew Claussen doubled to lead Missoula, which did its damage on just four hits.
Ryan Wahl, Casey Kautzman and Ryan Burt singled for the Miners. Peyton Hettick pitched five innings. Kenley Leary pitched the final inning, stranding a runner after giving up a hit.
Missoula 6, Butte 1
Four Missoula pitchers held the Miners to five hits in Game 2.
Brendon Hill homered, and Thomas Martin and Dayton Bay doubled to lead the Mavericks offense.
Aidan Lee poked a pair of singles and drove in a run to lead the Miners. Wahl, Coyt Stajcar and Leary also singled. Ryan Burt and Wolfgang Doty-Basel pitched for the Miners.
