Maroons win two in Frenchtown

FRENCHTOWN  — Butte Central closed out the Frenchtown Invitational with a pair of wins Saturday.

The Maroons beat Libby 7-4 before knocking off Columbia Falls 3-2 to raise their record to 5-2 on the season.

Courtney Thomas went the distance to pick up the win against Libby in her first varsity start.

Shannon McLaughlin went 3 for 3 with a walk and run scored to pace the BC offense in that win. Teresa Piazzola, Shawnee Hjelt, Aiden Dennehy and Thomas each smacked a pair of hits.

Danika Neumann tripled, Shelby Paffhausen doubled and Katie Hogart singled.

Mikayla Boggs started and went five innings to grab the win against Columbia Falls. Piazzola closed it out, striking out four batters in two innings.

Hogart highlighted BC’s offense, going 3 for 4. Hjelt, McLaughlin, Boggs, Piazzola and Taylor Marthaller added singles in the win.

The Maroons hit the road next Friday when they look to stay perfect in Southwestern A play at Hamilton and Corvallis.
